LITTLE HAYFIELD 25 SEPT 2010
Slightly cold,northerly wind,cloudy,dry.
Murray and Wilson left comphrensive instructions “ 8.75 miles…ish “ that was it.
NSF Taylor, Ding Dong and Shippers were long gone. Next off were the Ruddocks, Colin, Coatsworth and Bakewell. A large group comprising F Taylor, Eastwood, Riley, Markham, Phil (newcomer), Stanners, Potter, Pres followed.
The rearguard were Bloodless, Butler and McHarry. Ridings, Mason and Winterbone were also in attendance.
Out of the pub we right down the hill and took the path on the left across a road and straight on to a lane to reach the road where we took a right and left to a stream. It is nice to get your feet soaked in the first mile. Straight ahead over the stream seemed to be the way to go, unfortunately the trail went up a bank on the left.
On the road we decided to go back into Hayfield but changed our mind and went back to the cemetery . A climb took us up to Ridge Top and then over the delightful meadows to Peep-o Day farm. Crossing the road we were enjoying the downhill so much we quite forgot Coldwell Clough and went all the way down to the road. We then had a hard slog up to Kinder End before a pleasant grass sward all the way down to Kinder Reservoir. A short climb up to Middle Moor followed by a jog through the heather back to Little Hayfield.
Liquid refreshment, meat and potato pie and apple crumble rounded off the evening and we resolved to do it again in two weeks time.
