Longnor Horseshoe 26 Sept 09
Longnor was warm and sunny. The owners are now living upstairs so no changing facilities apart from the poolroom. We did negotiate the use of their shower.
Ding-dong and NSFT were first off followed by the two city boys and then the Ruddock twins in matching outfits. Brian was taking it easy as he was doing the Macc Half the next day. The others were just taking it easy. The teacher was walking as his knee has given out.
Next off was the unholy band of Winterbone, Doggy ( having rested his hip on Anglesey), Old Markham and Potter. Murray and Park were next away having declared various excuses.
A group consisting of Wilson, Eastwood, Stanton, Jackson, Fast Taylor, Riley and I think Markowicz followed. Anyhow Markowicz fell at Beecher's Brook and further injured his knee so Paul may have company after all.
Last to head West were West-Samuel and Bloodless. They had little chance of catching the packs ahead who with the sun on their backs and tails up must have presented a pretty picture as they headed to Hollins Clough and round the North end of Hollins Hill. We are heading straight for Chrome Hill, no we have turned away, no we have turned back again, no we have turned away again to go down Dowel Dale to Glutton Grange.
We skirt around Parkhouse Hill and up the fearful climb to the road. At Yewtree Grange we are confronted by a sign saying Beware of the Pitbull and a Pitbull.
Back safely we sat out in the sun sampling the ale with Mason and Jocys who is recovering from a knee op. An excellent meal of steakpie and pudding rounded off the day. Everyone appeared to be speaking to Brown Bear and McHarry.
